AN UNCOMMON PUREBRED ARABIANS STUD IN A UNIQUE ENVIRONMENT
The Bozouls stud farm directed by Marcel Mézy is settled in Aveyron in Grioudas on the Causse Comtal between Bozouls and Rodez. 600 Arabian horses are here bred semi-extensively over more than 1000 hectares, hundreds of them being limestone plateau. They benefit from an ideal environment "100% nature". The combination of weather conditions, relief and plant environment contribute to the good health and sturdiness of all our horses. The stud is currently breeding one hundred broodmares but also ten stallions that have covered or are currently covering and that are only kept for the mares of the stud. Most of the young mares foal once or twice before being trained.
TOP-QUALITY FODDER
The natural fertilization (TECHNOLOGIES MARCEL MEZY), process of pastures which is based on the use of BACTERIOSOL® and BACTERIOLIT® invented by Marcel MEZY, guarantees a healthy animal feeding thanks to top-quality forages. The high quality of hay, the appetence of pasture grass turn out to be essential for the good health of the horses of any age. Our horses are fed and given supplements according to their needs and the season. The foals have self-service feeders at their disposal.
AN ECO-FRIENDLY TREATMENT OF EFFLUENTS
All effluents are sowed with BACTERIOLIT® so that they turn quickly into humus dedicated to fertilization. This process also contributes to the comfort of our horses sanitizing stables by less ammonia emanations. Moreover, BACTERIOSOL® and BACTERIOLIT® offer environment solutions by limiting waste due to washing, of which nitrates, and fixing carbon on the humus they produce.
600 race and endurance Arabian horses from the best strains bred on the "Causse Comtal" near Rodez in Aveyron. A semi-extensive breeding over more than 1000 hectares.
3 stables for breeding (single boxes), 2 stables for competition horses, numerous fields and paddocks, sand arena, indoor arena and horse walker...
Foals are weaned when 6 months of age and are bred by groups of age and sex. During the first 3 winters, they live indoor in small groups. The broodmares live outdoor the whole year. Horses are trained either for flat racing or endurance according to their talent.
Most of the hay, rich for variety, is produced on the farm (ray grass, timothy grass, dactyl, smooth meadow grass, lotier, clover, alfalfa, sainfoin, medick). Plots are fertilized at spring with Bacteriosol®. The natural action of this fertilization process generates a high-quality forage rich in fibre that contributes to the good health of all our horses. Likewise, kernel is "traditional" and natural : "méteils" (mixed crops of wheat and rye), oats, bran, alfalfa...
Endurance horses’ training is done at stables or on the plateau of the Lévézou in Aveyron more than 1,000 metres high (3,280 ft): a region with an ideal landscape for endurance training (adequate ground, high differences in altitude).
Today, the breedind has nearly 100 horses in endurance training, and 30 in flat training. At Grioudas, around forty endurance horses are trained by six house riders.
